Beware: Some words look like prepositions but are actually acting as the particle in a verb phrase. For example: “Doug puts on his diamond-studded collar for special occasions.” “Doug likes to sleep in on Sunday mornings.” “Doug always throws up when he chews on a rotten bone.” In these sentences, the words are NOT prepositions.
Examples:
- Adam is next to Bob
- Bob is between Don and Adam,
-Don is in front of Bob and Carla
- Carla is behind (in back of) Don
Doug is IN the bucket.
Doug is IN the kennel.
Doug is IN the bed.
The rabbit is UNDER the table.
Example:
- The Cat is under the table.
- The girl is under the tree.
Example:
- The man is by (next to) the window
A man standing beside his best dog friend.
